Outdoor Adventure University was founded in 2009 to provide sportsmen with a standardized, certified way to increase outdoor knowledge and skills, while also protecting the environment and teaching responsible behaviors and practices. OAU began to gather the most respected, knowledgeable men and women in outdoor recreation, and compile a set of in-depth courses covering the broader fields of hunting, fishing, and outdoor adventure.
With a commitment to protect the environment and establish a set of standards for training, Outdoor Adventure University was endorsed by the United States Outdoor Council in 2009, and completion of OAU courses and programs includes certification by the USOC.
With recognized experts Greg Davenport, David Samuel and Lefty Kreh, OAU completed its first set of training courses by the end of the year, including Wilderness Survival, Whitetail Deer Hunting, Fly Fishing, and a Whitetail Deer Hunting Intensive in partnership with the 777 Ranch in Hondo, Texas.
